First Class Free at Rehab NYC

REHAB NYC

This is the kind of Rehab you’ll want to go to. The fitness kind 🙂  Rehab NYC is a new HIIT workout that consists of 35 minutes of intense all-out pushes, yoga flows, and moving to the music. It’s designed to rehabilitate your mind and body through some good ol’ fitness. Rehab is a full body workout, acting as your cure to all of life’s stresses, because when it comes down to it, exercise is the best form of medicine, right?! Puppies on a treadmill are a close second 😉

This class is designed to take you out of your comfort zone and leave you feeling accomplished, strong and powerful. And most importantly, better than you did when you first walked through that door. By no means do you need to be feeling down or stressed out, to do this workout. Rehab is for everyone, and I think we can all agree that no matter how you’re feeling, exercise just makes you feel that much better.

What’s even better than all of this?? Your first class at REHAB NYC is free 🙂  To sign up, simply create your Rehab account here and select the class time that works best for you. As of now, Rehab is offered at 3 different times throughout the week:

Mondays at 12:00 PM at Athleta (126 5th ave, New York, NY 10011)

Tuesdays at 12:15 PM at Hub Seventeen (114 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011)

Saturdays at 10:15 AM at Hub Seventeen (114 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011)

At a whopping 35 minutes a class, you’ll have time to squeeze in this quick and refreshing workout on your lunch break, or get sweaty before your Saturday brunch. Just think about how good that mid-day workout can make you feel and how productive you’ll be the rest of the day.

But do note: if you go to Rehab on your lunch break or before heading straight to brunch, there are no showers at Athleta Or Hub Seventeen so prep accordingly. You’ll probably want to bring a towel, and maybe some dry shampoo (if that’s your thing) and a refreshing spray for after. Definitely don’t forget the deodorant! And remember to bring a water bottle.

As Rehab continues to grow, we’ll likely see more class times popping up. Bryna Carracino is the founder and instructor of Rehab NYC. Bryna has been in the fitness industry for over 10 years, and I am personally very excited to finally take her class 🙂  Bryna, I’ll be seeing you at Rehab soon!

So go ahead and get rehabilitated. After all, it is free 🙂 And trust me, this type of cleanse is sooo much better than a juice cleanse 😉 Get started here.

Tabata + Flow This Weekend

screenshot-2017-01-22-17-21-48-1

We’re seeing a huge increase in hybrid workouts this month and I’m starting to think that this may be a new workout trend. This Saturday’s class hosted by The P.E. Club & Kentanga Fitness is no different.

Join Nedra Lopez and Holly Goodwin this Saturday, January 28th, for a Tabata & Flow workout event. Class will be held at Hub Seventeen, located inside the Lululemon Flatiron store on 17th St. & 5th Ave. The workout will begin at 2:00 PM and will be an hour long. The event will run until around 3:30 PM. Tickets are only $15 and you can purchase them here. Keep reading to find out all the bang you will get for your buck.

Class will begin with Tabata style exercises, then transition into some recovery exercises. You’ve probably heard (and maybe run away from) the word Tabata before. Talk about a love/hate relationship. Tabata is an effective style of exercise where you push yourself to the max for 20 seconds, then recover (catch your breath) for 10 seconds, and repeat this for 8 rounds. It’s quick bouts of high intensity intervals, followed by short bouts of recovery. You will feel out of breath, but that’s the point, so the good news is, you’re doing it right. The other good part? This workout class will be followed by a longer recovery section, so you will get a break and some time to actively stretch. Once the tabata is over, that is.

Post-class, there will be a health and fitness Q + A with your knowledgeable instructors, plus free healthy snacks 🙂 Tickets for this event are only $15. You can purchase your ticket here. We’re getting close to the end of January, people. Now is the time when most people tend to fall off the bandwagon and forget those New Year’s resolutions. Don’t be one of them! Head to Hub Seventeen for your tabata + flow class this Saturday to stay on track 🙂

Workout at Lululemon for Free

community events.jpg

Winter is coming. Actually pretty sure it’s already here (based on how red my poor cold ears are right now). Some of us probably prefer to stay inside and snuggle up with some Netflix  and hot chocolate this time of year. Perks of living in a tiny NYC apartment? It’s so much warmer and cozier. Some of us prefer to sweat it out to warm ourselves up. If you’re one of the latter (like myself), I’ve got a few opportunities for you to do so.

You guys remember that Lululemon‘s Hub Seventeen offers complimentary workouts every Saturday and Sunday, right? Saturdays are reserved for cardio while Sundays are for yoga. Each month, they partner with a different studio to bring you free workout classes. For the month of December, Hub Seventeen has partnered with As One & Shala Yoga House.

lululemon flatiron.jpg

As One is one of NYC’s toughest workouts. It’s a HIIT class that’ll really test your entire body and push you to your limits. The more you push yourself, the better workout you’ll get. It’s that simple. You’ll use your body weight for resistance as well as some basic equipment. I took my first As One class a few months ago and it was definitely tough, but I loved it. I felt like I got a really good workout for my whole body.

But, if you can’t make it to Hub Seventeen on a Saturday morning (it is the holiday season and we’re all pretty busy), your first class at As One is free 🙂 Click the link here, select Session Packages, then Group Fitness from the drop down menu, and then complimentary session for $0.00. God I love saying that! Then go ahead and book your first free class, and get ready to work!

After a workout with As One, you’ll probably need to cool it down and stretch it out. So feel free to return back to Hub Seventeen for a round of yoga. The Shala Yoga class will allow you to focus on your breathing, build strength and put your mind and body at ease. In this class, you’ll get to relax (isn’t that nice) and really tap into yourself. It’s the perfect way to have some “me” time after a long week of hard work, and give your body the care that it needs.

Both classes are from 10:15 AM – 11:15 AM. No need to sign up or RSVP, just show up! Hub Seventeen is located on the bottom level of the Lululemon Flatiron store at 114 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011.

And if you enjoy the classes this weekend, you can come back every weekend in December for more of these complimentary workouts 🙂 Plus, stay tuned, I’ll be letting you know which studios Lululemon has decided to partner with for January. More free classes to come 🙂 But if you can’t wait until January, keep reading…

When you walk into Lululemon Flatiron, make sure to stop by the concierge desk (located to the left of the front door). Right now, they are giving out free classes to Cyc Fitness & Fhitting Room for first timers, while supplies last. Make sure to grab a card for your free classes at these two very hot studios 🙂 And get ’em before they run out!

I know it’s hard to get yourself to the gym, or studio, in this weather, but think about how good you’ll feel after. That post-workout feel trumps everything. It’s supposed to warm up a bit this weekend anyway. Plus, if you’ve still got some holiday shopping to get done, you’ll already be at one of the NYC’s top athleisure locations. Check that off your list.

Get Fit for Free with Lululemon & Throwback Fitness

hub seventeen 2.jpg

The first weekend after labor day can be rough. Do we ditch the concrete jungle again to snag one more beach weekend, or do we embrace this hot city for all that it has to offer? I mean, between the Pizza Festival on Saturday and the Grand Bazaar official grand opening on Sunday, do we really want to escape? Here’s something else that may force you to leave those beach weekends behind and face the facts. Fall is coming.

By now we’re fully aware that Lululemon hosts free cardio workouts every Saturday at their Flatiron location, AKA Hub Seventeen. And if you don’t know, then you haven’t been reading 😉 Anyway, this Saturday, Brian Gallagher will be teaching a Throwback Fitness class. Completely complimentary.

Each month Lululemon’s Hub Seventeen features a different studio right on the lower level of their Flatiron store. September is the month for Throwback Fitness, and complimentary classes will be given every Saturday morning from 10:15 AM-11:15 AM.  The class will take place at 114 5th Ave, New York, NY 10011.

So what IS Throwback Fitness? Well, to start, they refer to it as “summercamp for adults.” Doesn’t that sound fun? A typical class includes a warm-up, some rowing instruction, and 2 workouts broken into phys ed and recess. The phys ed workout will have you doing rowing sprints and body weight circuits, while the recess workout is more of a team workout modeled after a sport like basketball or baseball. There is where your competitive edge may kick into high gear. Don’t hold back.

Saturday’s class may have some modifications, since it’s obviously not taught at the studio but you’ll still get that awesome, fun, total body workout. Hub Seventeen is a large workout space with equipment such as kettlebells, boxing gloves, and medicine balls. They also have changing rooms. All you need to bring with you is a water bottle and sneakers. There is no sign up required beforehand. Simply just show up, ready to work out.

If you attend this Saturday’s class and love it so much that you want more…good news! You can head back to Hub Seventeen for 2 more chances to workout with Throwback Fitness:

  • September 17th, with Ryan Wilke
  • September 24th, with Java Martinez

If practicing yoga is more your workout style, or you’re looking for some mindfulness and stretching after a tough cardio workout on Saturday, then listen up. You can find a complimentary yoga session at Hub Seventeen every Sunday as well. Yoga classes are also held from 10:15 AM-11:15 AM. And they’re totally free. Yes, that’s right, an entire weekend of free workouts.

hub seventeen.jpg

And stay tuned! I’ll let you know which studio is headed to Hub Seventeen in October.

So when life gives you lemons, yes, pray that they’re lulu. But also, head to Lululemon Flatiron for your free workout class 🙂 Oh snap!
