Community Classes at Yoga Vida

yoga vida logo.png

When working out at fitness studios in the city, the words, “community class,” are GOLDEN. Community classes are typically taught by new instructors who are getting a feel for teaching real time classes before their schedules go live. The best part? Community classes are for the most part free, or at least, donation based.

Yoga Vida is offering community classes now through December 10th. Through December! That’s amazing. So as the temps start to drop, and we fall back into our fitness routines (the ones that take place inside, instead of on the NYC piers and on the beach), we can get our flow on for only so much as $1. You can view the complete Yoga Vida class schedule here. Do note that if you need to rent a mat, you can do so for $2, but bring your own if you have one.

Community classes are open-level flow classes, so anyone and everyone can join in. They’re donation based so you can literally donate just a dollar to take class. For the most part, this is when they’re happening:

  • Monday – Friday at 7:30 am at Union Square
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 2:30 pm at Union Square
  • Sunday at 2:00 pm at Noho

But as you scroll through the schedule, make sure to keep your eyes open because community classes could pop up at other times, or you can filter by “community class” here.

Sometimes when studios put community classes on the schedule, they’re at the worst times. But Yoga Vida, you’ve done well! To score a community class on a weekday before work, is invaluable. What better way to start the day than with a flow, a stretch and a tap into your inner self, to prepare you for anything that comes your way. We could all use some peace, meditation, and calmness in this crazy, busy city, right?!

And as your Sundays turn from beach days into football-watching couch days (or for some of us, food shopping and errands kind of days), a 2 PM yoga sesh followed by a post-workout lunch sounds excellent. And yes, my friend and I have already made plans to get our yoga on with a post-flow meal on these upcoming fall Sundays. Let me know if you want to join in 🙂

So whether you’re new to yoga, or a regular ol’ yogi, $1 classes never hurt nobody. I recommend taking advantage of these community classes over the next few months. Click on the class schedule here, donate $1 (or more if you’re feeling generous), get in that child’s pose and let it go. Namaste, yogis.

Free Rumble Classes

RUMBLe 2

Feels like almost every Saturday when you wake up and scroll through Instagram, you find yet another post of someone who has just completed a Rumble class. They’re high on life right now and bragging all over social media (i.e. Instagram stories) about the insane boxing class they just took.

Well, you could join in on the excitement too. With 3 opportunities to take Rumble for free. Yes, free! Rumble’s newest trainers are getting ready to be put on the schedule and they need YOUR HELP to practice. So come, take their classes. You’ll be doing yourself, and your fabulous new instructors, a favor. Plus, it’s free. Double plus – aren’t you dying to know what all the hype is about?!

The following 3 classes at Rumble are completely complimentary. If you’re interested in taking class, all you have to do is shoot the instructor a direct message on Instagram and let them know. They’ll take care of you from there 🙂

Thursday, June 8th at 3:15 PM

Instructor: Anthony Crouchelli – @anthonycrouchellifitness

Saturday, June 10th at 7:00 PM

Instructor: Lielen De Guzman – @littlelielen

Saturday, June 10th at 8:00 PM

Note: You will need boxing gloves for class, so if you have your own, definitely bring them. If you don’t have your own, you can rent gloves at the studio for $3. You will also need wraps, which will be yours to keep. They’re available for purchase at the studio for $6. Save ’em for the next time a free Rumble class rolls around…there may be more on the way 😉  A typical Rumble class is $34 so I wouldn’t exactly consider these small equipment purchases too hefty. And, they’re necessary for you to get the most out of class.

Rumble is located at 146 W 23rd St, New York, NY 10011 on the border of Chelsea & Flatiron.

And you know what’s coming next….let’s get ready to ruuumbblleeee!

They’re back! 305 Fitness is welcoming their newest instructors with $15 classes for all. Come sweat it out with their 2 newest instructors: Ana and Ria. All proceeds will go toward She’s the First, which sends girls in low-income countries to school for the first time. So your sweat will not only cost less, but also it will go toward an awesome cause. It’s a win-win 🙂

To sign up for a 305 community class, click here, and buy the “community class” option for $15. You can then book your community class here for the midtown studio and here for the village studio. You must purchase the community class for just $15 before booking. Community classes will be offered for the month of December only so book ’em now while they’re hot! A typical 305 fitness class is $32 so this is less than half the price.

For those of you who haven’t been to 305 yet, it’s the ultimate cardio dance workout that’s the buzz all over town, as well as in DC and Boston, which they’ve also conquered. If you’ve come across the famous lips and “no turning back” sign on Insta, that’s got 305 written all over it. Don’t be scared away by the word: dance. I am by no means a dancer but 305 fitness is by far, one of my favorite workouts. The class actually feels like a parry. There’s a live DJ in each class, plus bright lights and an insanely positive vibe. Plus, the instructors are awesome – they’re super energetic and motivating which makes it even more special to welcome 2 new instructors to the 305 community 🙂

The class is a mix of your basic dance moves and high intensity cardio, basically anything that’ll get your heart rate soaring and leave you dripping sweat. Plus, there’s a small toning section toward the end of class, which usually comes at the perfect time when you need to catch your breath. 305 gives you a total body workout in the most fun way possible. That feel-good sweat we all know and love is exactly what you feel after a 305 fitness class.

Let’s make sweat sexy, just a little cheaper this time 🙂 And give a big warm welcome to 305’s newest instructors: Ana and Ria. Can’t wait to sweat it out with you!
